On the northwest corner of McQueen and Ocotillo roads is the Paseo Vista Recreation Area. It was a functional landfill for about 30 years, a vast man-made dirt mound with sloping sides towering above the streets and neighboring homes. Then Chandler made the decision to invest in this location in order to give it a new function. The slopes still dominate the landscape today, but they are now covered in decomposed granite, wildflowers, and other vegetation, as well as rocks enclosed in wire to help limit erosion.
