Special interest classes, youth and adult sports programs, day camps, after-school programs, youth resource programs, environmental and educational nature programs, commercial recreation services, and year-round special events are all part of the Recreation Services Division's offerings.

The Chandler Bikeway is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a charity dedicated to building a statewide network of trails from abandoned rail lines and connecting corridors. This "rail-trail," which was once an abandoned railroad line, is now a terrific spot to walk Petzooie in Burbank! The trailhead for the Chandler Bikeway is shown on the map below.

The Travel Town Railroad, which is located in Griffith Park, is dog-friendly! Leashed dogs are invited to accompany their owners as they investigate locomotives, freight cars and cabooses, passenger cars, interurbans, and automobiles. During their vacation to Travel Town, dog owners must clean up after their pets. Admission is by donation, and parking is available on the premises during operating hours.

The Whitnall Off-Leash Dog Park is a 3-acre off-leash dog park beneath the historic Whitnall Highway Utility Corridor. Ample on-street parking, a separate space for little or timid dogs, tables, a water fountain, and a portable bathroom facility are among the amenities. Every Tuesday from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., the park is closed for routine maintenance.

Bring Petzooie to this unique Griffith Park attraction for a picnic or some games in the nearby grassy area. Before the zoo moved to its current location, the Old Zoo Picnic Area was home to the former LA Zoo. The decommissioned zoo has recently been transformed into a picnic park complete with historic animal cages and exhibits.
