Big Basin Redwoods State Park is the oldest state park in California and is home to the biggest stretch of old-growth Redwoods south of San Francisco. Dogs must be on a leash in the campgrounds, picnic areas, and on paved roads. They must always be on a leash and supervised. Dogs are also allowed on North Escape, a 2.5-mile one-way (5-mile round trip) paved road that runs beside old-growth redwoods, a creek, and lush undergrowth and is mostly closed off to motorists. Big Basin's official website has information on day-use and camping fees for dog owners. Dogs are not allowed on any of the trails or fire roads, with the exception of the campground connection trail that connects the Sempervirens and Blooms Creek campgrounds to the park headquarters.Dogs are not permitted anywhere in Rancho del Oso, including Waddell State Beach.
