When it comes to animal control and dog ownership, the WPD Animal Control Officer(s) are responsible for understanding, clarifying, and enforcing state and local laws, regulations, and ordinances. They do this by responding to resident calls, enforcing leash laws when the dog is off owner property and in town parks, cracking down on barking, improper waste disposal, property destruction, licensing compliance, and rabies vaccination compliance, and issuing appearance tickets for noncompliance with town ordinances.

We also work hard to inform the public about the value of vaccinations, sterilizations, and good pet care.
