The Lucas County Pit Crew provides assistance to responsible pet owners in our community, with a focus on community cats and dogs of the Pit Bull Terrier breed, through education, advocacy, training support, spay/neuter promotion, foster care, and adoption. We are recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We consider ourselves to be a FOR PURPOSE group because we constantly work to improve our neighborhood!

A small group of Toledo neighbors established Maumee Valley Save-A-Pet in 1977 in response to the enormous overpopulation of stray and abandoned animals in our neighborhood.

A small but extremely dedicated staff and a large number of devoted volunteers willingly provide their time, talents, and skills to the Rescue's functioning. Since we are a 501(c)(3) charity, neither the municipal, state, nor federal governments pay us.
