Our veterinarian Dr. Leese established the pet adoption facility Julia's Jungle to aid animals in danger of being put to death in the neighborhood shelters, keeping with the original mission of her clinic. Rescued animals can stay at Mountain Empire Veterinary Services & Julia's Jungle as long as they need to until loving, permanent homes are found. Our mission is to stop the killing of healthy, adoptable cats and kittens; to encourage sterilization (spay/neuter); to collaborate with local shelters in a foster/adoption/TNR program; and to inform the public about the value of sterilization, permanent identification, adopting kittens in pairs, and lifetime adoption. We are working to... -Increase cat and kitten rescues and adoptions; -educate the public about overpopulation and the impending pet overpopulation crisis.

Dedicated to helping Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service (SCRAPS) in its efforts to care for lost and abandoned animals throughout Spokane County, Scraps Hope Foundation (SHF) is a nonprofit organization.

Through law, education, and programs for pets and their owners, we are devoted to the placement, protection, and health of animals.

The first animal shelter in Spokane was founded by the Spokane Humane Society. They have been a 501c3 private, non-profit organization serving the public since 1897 by offering care, shelter, and adoptions for stray, abandoned, and unwanted animals in the greater Spokane area.
