San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter

The goal of San Marcos Animal Services is to safeguard both the residents and pets of the city. For the mutual benefit of people and animals, it is our objective to provide community education, care for neglected and abandoned animals, find them loving homes, and help reduce pet overpopulation.

The 501(c)3 non-profit PAWS Shelter of Central Texas (PAWS) was established in Kyle, Texas, in 1986 to care for homeless, abandoned, and abused animals in the region. We are a no-kill shelter that supports giving animals another chance! For however long it takes us to find them a loving home, PAWS provides companion animals with medical treatment, care, and love.

About 56 dogs and 24 cats can be housed each day at the Lockhart Animal Shelter. The shelter receives 180 animals on average each month. These creatures are native to Caldwell County and the City of Lockhart.
