Animal Services

We care for more than 40,000 animals a year as a national leader in animal welfare, offering shelter, veterinary treatment, behavior training, and other services. Along with animal control, lost and found, licensing, and humane law enforcement services, we also contract with jurisdictions.

The Kitten Nursery of the San Diego Humane Society provides care for thousands of abandoned kittens each year. These newborn kittens need specific care that cannot be provided elsewhere.

The SARA FORD FOUNDATION is a volunteer-run 501(C)(3) nonprofit that was established to save San Diego's animals who could be saved with medical treatment. Animals that are categorized by the shelter as being medically treatable are those who have a manageable medical issue and are often amenable to medical treatment.

Every year, Wagging Tails, an all-breed nonprofit rescue, places hundreds of dogs. We take pride in our reputation for providing adopters and their new family members with ongoing support.

The mission of Mutt Scouts, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dog rescue, is to assist mistreated, neglected, and homeless canines. No of the expense, we are dedicated to giving each animal we save the right socialization, training, and medical care.
