Rio Rancho Animal Control

The Watermelon Mountain Ranch was established in 1996 by Lee and Sophia DiClemente, whose passion of animals still permeates all aspects of the Ranch's daily activities. The New Mexico's Largest No Kill Animal Shelter, which has a 10 acre main campus building, two resale stores, off-site adoption facilities, and different humane initiatives for the community, grew out of a grassroots initiative that started with a small committed group of volunteers.

The community of Corrales is non-kill and animal-friendly. The goal of Animal Services is to protect and ensure the welfare of all household, farm, and wild animals.

Animal Humane New Mexico, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded in 1965, provides care for more than 10,000 dogs and cats who are homeless or in danger of becoming so each year. Since 2010, all healthy animals in our care have been adopted out. We never put animals to sleep based on their age or length of stay. At Animal Humane, we provide every companion animal with exceptional veterinary, social, and emotional assistance and love. As a private, nonprofit shelter, we get no money from the city, state, or federal government; instead, every dollar is wisely earned or raised.

NMDOG is a hands-on rescue that helps New Mexico's chained, mistreated, and abandoned dogs. This small, all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit, foster-based rescue, with its headquarters in Albuquerque, was founded in 2010 and has since impacted the lives of hundreds of dogs.

In early 1996, not long after they relocated to the region, Lee and Sophia DiClemente had a vision for a No-Kill animal facility in New Mexico. Every year, New Mexico euthanizes thousands of stray, abandoned, and lost animals.

Pets Alive in New Mexico! is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with the goal of assisting New Mexico in joining the expanding, forward-thinking No Kill companion animal welfare success that is occurring throughout America, where upwards of 99% of lost and abandoned pets and community cats are given a second chance to find a loving, permanent home.
