Poteau Valley Humane Society

In 2014, after identifying a need for animal welfare in our neighborhood, we began removing animals from the neighborhood kill shelters. A total of 2700 dogs and cats were saved between January 2019 and August 2020. By helping to save companion animals and find homes for them, or by selecting them to be transported and subsequently adopted into loving homes, we have assisted over nine kill shelters in our area to become no-kill shelters.

The third Saturday of every month is free adoption day at the Sallisaw Animal Shelter. The $15.00 adoption fee is waived on this day.

All animal laws in the City must be enforced, according to the Animal Control Officer. Any infractions of the animal laws may result in citations from this officer.

We are a 501(c)3 Non-Profit organization with license #SLT00073 from the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry.

We are fully committed to saving, treating, and rehoming Siberian huskies from puppy mills, shelters, and abusive situations. The Husky Halfway House Foundation works with law enforcement to support victims of puppy mills and others who are suffering nearby by providing transportation, lodging, rehabilitation, and rehoming services.

The Eufaula public animal shelter's website states: "We do not accept cats. Contact us to check if your animal has been picked up."
