The staff at the Brookhaven Animal Shelter & Adoption Center is committed to aiding the township's stray animals.

To train and install shelter and support dogs to help our U.S. military Veterans who suffer from the psychological and physical repercussions of war and to provide them independence Each Veteran can then benefit from the healing and unconditional love that a companion animal can offer. to offer animal rescue to our military personnel operating abroad.

The Smithtown Animal Shelter and Adoption Center is a point of entry for all lost, stray, and surrendered animals, primarily for the inhabitants of Smithtown. It is situated at 410 East Main Street. Any stray animal is kept at the shelter for the least required amount of time—three days—while staff members look into potential owners and work to reconnect missing pets with their worried families. Our staff gives the animals care during this period so they can wait for their families with as little discomfort as possible. The animals are then assessed and put on the adoption floor where they might find new homes if the owner cannot be found.

In 1994, Port Jefferson Station on Long Island became the home of Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue. Our concern about the tragically big domestic animal surplus planted the seeds for our expanding animal shelter.

We provide temporary housing for adoptable pets as well as a refuge for stray or abandoned animals.

The Long Island Feline Adoption Center was established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the sole purpose of helping homeless cats and kittens find adoptive homes.
