A rescue group in the Greater Portland/Vancouver area is called Lancaster Four Dog Rescue. We are a team of devoted volunteers who work hard to assist all disadvantaged animals. At high-kill shelters, we prevent dogs and cats from an awful outcome. We promote immunizations and spay and neuter procedures in an effort to inform communities about disease and overpopulation.

We offer services for lost and found pets, dog adoptions, stray care, and dog sheltering. We find new homes for adoptable dogs and reunite owners with abandoned pets.

The only public animal shelter and control facility in the county is Multnomah County Animal Services (MCAS). The goal of MCAS is to safeguard the welfare, health, and safety of humans and their pets in Multnomah County.

The adoptable animals at The Pixie Project originate from a variety of locations, but the majority are from rescues and overcrowded county shelters in Oregon's more rural counties. We offer an urban outlet where the animals can have the most awareness and exposure to potential adopters because many of these locations are not covered by a local shelter. Additionally, we provide veterinary and training support for all of the animals who come to us for rescue.

Jonnie Hart established Miniature Schnauzer Rescue (MSR) in 1988 with financial support from the Portland Miniature Schnauzer Club. It was intended to assist schnauzers in need of new homes.

The largest cat shelter in the Pacific Northwest is the Cat Adoption Team (CAT) in Portland. For homeless cats and kittens, we provide adoption, foster care, and veterinary treatment.

Oregon cats in need of new homes can turn to Cat's Cradle Rescue, an all-volunteer, foster-home based No Kill organization. Cat's Cradle Rescue has saved, fostered, and adopted more than 2,000 cats and kittens since 2012 (and counting!).
