Animal Shelters

1. OCAP (Ontonagon County Animal Protection)

The majority of the shelter's running funds—which are used for things like electricity, upkeep, food, and veterinary care—come from membership fees, donations, and fundraisers, but they haven't kept up with costs. OCAP sought a millage of 0.15 mils for four years beginning in 2013 in order to provide a reliable source of funding. In terms of taxable property value, this equates to 15 cents every $1,000 ($4.50 per year on $30,000.00). We are appreciative that Ontonagon County voters approved this millage to fund the shelter.
