Holt County Animal Shelter

Our homeless shelter relies on community volunteers. We wouldn't be able to care for our dogs as well without you. We are constantly seeking dog walkers.

For good reason, our little but strong Animal Shelter is situated right in the middle of America. Every day, we work to improve the lives of unwanted, ill, and homeless animals and do our best to place them in a loving home for the rest of their lives.

A microchip offers secure, trustworthy, and permanent identification, considerably increasing the chances that your pet will be found and brought back to you if it gets lost.

The Central Nebraska Humane Society, which was founded in 1967 and is now celebrating nearly 50 years of operation, is still housed in the original location that Herbert and Barbara Glover provided. The largest nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to animal welfare in central Nebraska is called CNHS. A Board of Directors oversees CNHS and sets the organization's policies, operational norms, strategic plans, and fundraising goals.
