Hopalong Animal Rescue

The City of Oakland's open admission shelter is run by Oakland Animal Services (OAS). Two full-time veterinarians and three registered veterinary technicians now make up OAS's veterinary team, which has expanded over the past two years.

Since Covid-19 started operating a shelter, we have been rescuing dogs and cats. When the COVID-19 hit, Anna shelter that was already in place took over as we worked to find these animals a home.

By placing dogs in loving homes, Rocket Dog Rescue prevents abuse, neglect, and death in overcrowded shelters. We provide assistance to pet owners in need in our neighborhood and act as first responders to animal emergencies and natural disasters.

The nation's first cat cafe, a cage-free adoption facility established to aid cats who struggle to be adopted from a shelter cage, is located in Cat Town.

Depending on the needs and preferences of each dog, dogs in our rescue are either housed in our home or with one of our foster families.

Since 1874, the East Bay SPCA has provided aid to lost, injured, and abandoned animals! We provide services in Dublin and Oakland for the counties of Alameda and Contra Costa.
