The municipal animal shelter with open admission serving Waynesboro, Staunton, and Augusta County is called Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center. All stray, abandoned, and owner-surrendered animals from these areas are taken in by us.

We are a 501c3 all-volunteer rescue organization that accepts and places dogs that are brought to us from regional shelters and high-kill pounds all throughout Virginia. Northern Virginia Sheltie Rescue

A non-profit 501(c)(3) group called Northern Virginia Sheltie Rescue was founded in 1999 with the sole purpose of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming Shelties and Sheltie-like dogs. The majority of the owners of these Shelties were unable to care for them and gave them up to NVSR. Others are discovered in shelters because they are abandoned or stray animals.
