Gillian Lange, recipient of the 1980 City of Los Angeles St. Francis of Assisi award for her rescue work with impounded animals since 1974, established The Lange Foundation (a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization) in 1993.

We are a passionate group of dog lovers working to lower the number of dogs put to death in local shelters and spread the word about what wonderful pets rescue dogs can be.

Regardless of the circumstances or conditions, our mission is to rescue homeless Golden Retrievers, Golden mixes, and similar breeds in Southern California from abuse and neglect.

Dogs are saved by the Dawg Squad from the city's high-kill animal shelters, the streets, and abuse and neglect situations. While we search for permanent adoptive homes, we offer foster homes, medical care, training, and rehabilitation. Dogs are typically fostered in caring volunteer homes while they wait to be adopted.

We are a 501c-3 dog rescue foundation committed to rescuing dogs from various Los Angeles shelters on the day they are to be put down and placing them in loving homes.
