Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary

The Barry County Animal Shelter is committed to providing for and enhancing the welfare of the animals owned by people of Barry County.

Ionia County's residents and animals are served by the Animal Care and Control Department. Ionia County and State of Michigan dog laws are enforced by the Animal Control Department. The Shelter accepts stray animals in Ionia County that have been abandoned by their owners or other people. Once the required stray hold time, imposed by the State, has passed, these animals are made available for adoption to the general public.

Located in West Michigan, we are a 501(c)3 home-based charity with a network of kind individuals who give needed products, provide foster homes, volunteer with us, and do a whole lot more.

We've grown from a few rooms in our homes to a brand-new rescue facility! We are a pretty new rescue, so we are still getting established in the neighborhood.

As a 501(c)3 non-profit, we exist. As long as they enjoy their profession, our therapy cats will continue to serve us. When a cat decides to retire, kittens and moms who don't meet the criteria for therapy will also become available for adoption at that time.
