White Owl Animal Sanctuary

On the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, there is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization called Oglala Pet Project (OPP), which is run entirely by volunteers. The Oglala people have a great deal of compassion for all animals despite their everyday hardships. Through education, spay/neuter support, pet health services, and the rehoming or networking of abandoned, abused, or unwanted pets on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, OPP was established to assist community people in caring for their animals and improving the quality of life for dogs.

A no-kill rescue is Stars. We firmly believe in working with our neighborhood to prevent animals from entering shelters.

Our mission is to improve the lives of all animals that come into contact with us. To this end, we use no kill principles, TNR (Trap, Neuter, and Release), and education to save cat lives through rescue, medical assistance, adoption, and spay/neuter in Rapid City, South Dakota, and the surrounding Black Hills.
