Jefferson County Animal Control

The Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County, West Virginia offers temporary housing and adoption services for dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens that have been abandoned, handed in, neglected, abused, or are otherwise unwanted. It also encourages education about pet care among locals in our county and the communities nearby.

The National Humane Education Society (NHES), established in 1948 by Anna C. Briggs, is the organization that sponsors the BAAC program. The main goal of the BAAC is to find companion animals loving homes with kind individuals who will commit to them for a lifetime by accepting them as a member of their family.

The Berkeley County Humane Society in Martinsburg, West Virginia, has been a haven for stray cats and dogs since 1915 (it was founded in 1943). Our bordering states and the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia are all served by us.
