We save injured, disabled, sick, abused, pregnant, nursing, orphaned, bottle-fed animals, as well as pets with serious medical conditions.

The City of Des Moines has a contract with the Animal Rescue League of Iowa's division ARL Animal Services to provide animal control services for every neighborhood inside the city's boundaries.

Dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens are saved, protected, and given hope while we look for loving homes.

Through education and the celebration of the relationship between humans and animals, we are kind individuals who care about animals and work to improve their welfare. We fight animal abuse and demand that all animals be treated humanely.

We are a program of The Pet Project Midwest, a nonprofit group established to support people in keeping their pets at home.

Through its programs, which include pet adoption, humane education, pet behavior training, spay/neuter, animal cruelty intervention, and much more, the ARL helps people and animals from all over the state of Iowa.
