HOUSTON - BARC wants you to ring in the New Year with a new canine family member. BARC is the City of Houston's Animal Shelter and Adoption Center.

BARC is the name of the animal shelter and adoption center for the City of Houston.

Every animal counts at Friends For Life. Friends For Life, a no-kill shelter program that saves animals regardless of breed, age, or condition, was established in Houston in 2002.

The pandemic's limitations provided us with an opportunity to assess how we spend our time, effort, and resources. We are putting an emphasis on transport and spay/neuter while also providing adoptions.

We provide a public pet wellness clinic, zoonotic disease surveillance, responsible pet ownership education, and animal control services in neighborhoods throughout unincorporated Harris County. Harris County Pets is a municipal open intake pet adoption and resource center.

In order to preserve the lives of shelter animals in Houston and the surrounding areas that are in danger, Best Friends in Houston collaborates with neighborhood shelters, animal welfare groups, and committed individuals.
