Paws and Claws Animal Rescue and Resort

NLR is a group of volunteers who work hard every day to save dogs from high-kill shelters, strays on the streets of Houston, and owner surrenders in Texas as well as from Minnesota shelters, reservations, and owner surrenders there.

A non-profit 501c(3) organization called The Headwaters Animal Shelter is committed to enhancing the lives of stray, abandoned, neglected, and mistreated animals. Our community's generosity and donations allow us to cover almost all of the costs connected with running the shelter.

For abandoned, stray, and surrendered animals, we work to give a temporary home as well as a safe, healthy, and loving environment. We also work to match each animal with a happy, successful new family.

The Brainerd Lakes area's Heartland Animal Rescue Team (HART) was established in the spring of 1987 by a group of concerned locals. At the time, there actually weren't any advocates for abandoned, abused, or stray animals.

In Bemidji, Minnesota, there is a shelter for dogs and cats called Great River Rescue. Each year, we find homes for more than 400 animals with responsible pet owners.

The Wadena County Humane Society promotes ethical pet ownership in our neighborhood while also saving the lives of companion animals and finding abandoned dogs new homes.
