Maine Friends of Animals

Through humane catching, neutering, and release back to their colony sites, we want to minimize the number of feral cats in our neighborhoods (a method called Trap-Neuter-Return or TNR). Because of a lack of reproduction, the populations of the colonies eventually decline.

Cat adoption and NO KILL shelter HART of Maine is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization authorized by the State of Maine.

More than 4000 abandoned and displaced animals are cared for annually at the charity Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland (ARLGP) in Maine. Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland is a pet adoption and animal rescue organization in Maine.

The organization is entirely run by volunteers, and its goal is to preserve the lives of shelter animals through community outreach, education, and coordination of rescue operations, among other initiatives.

"In a typical year, Midcoast Humane cares for and finds homes for nearly 3,500 stray, surrendered, and abandoned animals. We service 39 Maine municipalities, from Falmouth to Somerville, a distance of 1,000 miles. We operate two campuses: one at 5 Industrial Parkway in Brunswick and the other at 27 Atlantic Highway in Edgecomb.

A nonprofit animal shelter, Midcoast Humane assists roughly 3500 animals annually and serves 39 municipalities in Midcoast Maine.
