W.A.R. is much more than a no-kill shelter and much more than an organization that rescues animals. As a 501c3 non-profit organization, W.A.R.'s mission is to halt the killing and suffering of companion animals by developing tools that effect change.

In June 2017, the Custer County Friends for Life Society (also known as Friends For Life Animal Society) constructed a new shelter on the south side of Clinton, Oklahoma. From Weatherford, Clinton, and the neighboring areas in western Oklahoma, we are assisting animals.

There are 21 different runs available for adoption at the Weatherford Animal Shelter. Large dogs, such Great Danes, or mothers with litters can be housed in two of the runs.

The Animal Control Department offers a variety of services, such as the following: Capture of stray and unattended domestic and wild animals, Kennel for strays like cats and dogs at our facility, Shelter and adoption services.q
