Prince George County Animal Shelter

The historic city of Petersburg, Virginia, is home to the open-door public shelter known as Petersburg Animal Care and Control. We welcome any animals that city residents need to bring to us. We collaborate with a variety of locations to promote our adoptable animals as widely as possible, including Petsmart and numerous websites and social media platforms.

The Hopewell Humane Society is a volunteer-run, non-profit group. We assist unwanted and abandoned animals. HHS does not receive any tax money, but its efforts are supported by the local United Way.

Dogs, cats, and other small companion animals are taken in, housed, cared for, and adopted out at the city-run Colonial Heights Animal Shelter. We are a tiny sanctuary that makes every effort to place the animals in our care in devoted homes.

According to the bylaws of the SPCA of Petersburg and Colonial Heights, VA, our objective is "to offer effective means for the prevention of animal cruelty within the two cities and adjacent areas."

Spaying, neutering, and providing human connection to the cats in order to help them find their forever homes are all part of our mission to help the homeless & feral cat population get under control.
