Bedford County Animal Shelter

We warmly accept these foster children into our lives and homes, getting to know them on a really personal level. When that happens, we make it our job to re-home them and find them the ideal forever home.

The Lynchburg Humane Society has been providing care for stray and abandoned animals as a private, non-profit organization for almost 70 years. 3,811 animals were cared for at our Lynchburg Center for Pets in 2017, and 93% of them were adopted into new or existing homes. We are a No Kill Humane Society and a 501c3 organization that passionately believes that no healthy or treatable pet should be put to death. We take in the abandoned or lost pets from those communities by running the public shelter for the City of Lynchburg.

All local, state, and federal regulations governing domestic animals are upheld by Campbell County Animal Control.

As an extension of other non-profit animal organizations that advocate against animal cruelty, Harmony Rescue's purpose is to provide and oversee a safe haven environment for domestic animals in need of extra care.

To provide short-term shelter for stray, abandoned, and surrendered animals in order to either return them to their owners or find them permanent, suitable new homes. To do this, as well as to provide cost-effective sheltering through regional partnerships to ensure the highest live release rate practical for our community.

In Virginia's Blue Ridge, a community resource called the Roanoke Valley SPCA offers services for pet adoption, retention, and education.
