Friends of The Alameda Animal Shelter

The Humane Society of Alameda was established in 1973 to advance animal protection, humane treatment, and pet population management. It has no physical site, no buildings, and no veterinary services.

An all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization called Island Cat Resources and Adoption (ICRA) operates mostly in the Californian cities of Alameda and Oakland. We are devoted to enhancing the lives of feral and stray cats through adoption, community outreach, and spay/neuter services.

ICRA has spayed or neutered more than 22,000 cats since we started in 1994, found homes for more than 3,300 animals, and helped remove hundreds of additional cats from the streets and place them in homes through regional pet adoption organizations.

FAAS provides shelter and care for stray companion animals, helps them find new homes, and works to end animal abuse via outreach and education.
